    I was on a project with Chevrolet commercial vehicles in the late 90s. in a meeting with some mid level brass, one of them revealed that GM's new strategy was to move the GMC brand upscale to a luxury pickup market position. "The plumbers, electricians, etc. will be driving Chevys with vinyl seats, but the boss will have a GMC with leather", was the example, more or less. 20 years later, so it is.

    Sorta like the the old west. The big ranchers would outfit the range hands with Winchester carbines, but they themselves had Marlins in their scabbards.
