I finally did it!! a new van... after many months of missing my 65 handivan, that I sold in the spring, I finally broke down and spent some cash on another van.

I picked up a 65 Chevy sport van... I think.

It's a 90 with windows. The dude who had it before me took the opening style windows from a gmc he had first and added them to this chevy. Mechanically it's great and should be getting new Paint on it within the next 2 weeks.

But, have a look and lets hear the comments.

Looks good Pete. Some nice wheels nd some paint, it'll look just like 66 Sportvan.

    Thumbs down

    Hey,

It looks very good for being so far north. I looked at your old van also, Why sell a van that nice? Must of had a good reason i guess.

My 2 cents, you asked for it.

Your new van looks real cool. But I have to ask too, why sell that sweet one you had before? I used to have 65 panel that was in tip top condition. Sold it thinking it was my only recourse for cash. Spent next 10 years kicking myself. Finally bought another one! Good luck with your new wheels!

The old one was cool, but the mechanical problems were draining me. The body was nice and I re-did the interior with a futon bed and red cedar detailing, but the biggest complaint was the road trips with the guys.
No windows made the ride quite sea sick for people.... at least the new one is a great starting base and it runs like a top. I put over 400 miles on it after turning it over for the first time.

I am heading for paint on the weekend and chrome wheels, won't take long. Then at least from the outside it looks worth driving!!

I will keep the update photos coming>

    Hi Pete
I always thought that the Corvette Wheels would look good on early vans, they sure looked good on your grey van. Did they seem to fit well?

They were actually knock offs of corvette wheels, they worked ok but the biggest size I think you could run is 15". Actual vette wheels in that style are probably 16".
I only used those wheels for a short while because I couldn't get the centre caps for them. I put on some nice chrome 5 spoke rally style mags that made it look nicer. I have to find a picture and up load it.

    Wink

Remember, its not the size of the rim 14" or 15" or 16" or whatever it's the height of the tire. A 205 75 14 it a lot taller than a 275 35 16. The corvette wheel with a low profile tire should be no problem. I think Greyfox has them on his van. And the back set should keep them tucked under the van. Good luck. (The old van did look good)
