    Nice S Carolina Find

Welcome, if you get over to Myrtle Beach, look me up.

Where did you find that nice van?

If you need some upgrade info, like "where do I find...", give me a call.

I have a long list of web information...like where to find parts and replacements for rotted rubber etc...

I get over to Columbia about once a month, I'd love to see your Van.

Congratulations! You are gonna have a blast!

It carried my construction tools, my band equipment and in 1973 and 1978 my kids. In 1987 it got an engine transplant (292) and beginning in 1988 it towed our 24' travel trailer all over the west for family vacations until 1993 (we bought a Suburban and a bigger trailer). I worked for Whatcom County government from 1973 til 2000 when I left so me and the DW could RV full time. that lasted til 2006 when we ran out of money and am now working as a private consultant with my twin sons. My passion is music, I play classical cello (electric Yamaha) and rock bass and my wife plays keys, rock and classical. someday we hope to get back on the road and take our music with us, playing at 1000 trails campgrounds and various churches. Unfortunately the early sits at the family's property out at the lake most of the time as we have a 2005 Roadtrek motorhome and a 20' travel trailer that we travel in. If our business doens't pick up, then the Roadtrek may get repossesed and I'll be back to towing with the early!!!! Oh darn.

It's now 2017. I was going thru this Roll Call thread and thot I'd update things. Can't believe I'm now 71 (time flies), the Road Trek is gone, had to sell it, lost thousands of dollars. So, in 2011 got the van out of storage and did start towing with it again. It's so nice to have it around to pick up the pieces when our life changes or when newer vehicles break down. Towed to Bend OR last year but it was so hot (100 degrees) DW said we have to get a TV with air. So now have a '94 Suburban, van back in storage (sad). However, the van is still running like new, take it out for exercise once in a while. Now have 3 grandkids, pretty cute too. Business has picked up finally so don't have to shop at the dollar store anymore, except I'm now addicted to cheap food and sunglasses.

54 owner of a graphics company. Restore old motorcycles, raced and restored a few German cars. Had my fair share of VW busses. With the prices now and the inability to haul bikes. I started looking for a vintage van. Started with a 65 Econoline a year ago. In the middle of restoration my 67 no door came up, being a life long bow tie guy couldn't sell the Ford fast enough. As of a week ago the van is my daily. Want to make it simple but clean and drivable. You all have just started to hear my million questions. Thanks for a the help so far. Jerry

Wow! we are quite similar, I worked for several sign companies over the years, I also buy and sell motorcycles as a hobby and built more than my share of VW's over the years. I currently own a '63 single cab, a '68 Karmann Ghia, a '82 Shovelhead, '92 Flhs and a 2014 Fat Bob fxdf. I missed having a Bus for camping and found a Van for sell, it was a P.O.S. but got me looking. I'm on my second Sportvan now and really love the power and space my VW bus didn't have.
You can see my progress at http://www.vcvc.org/showthread.php/2...portvan-Deluxe for my '66.

Still Here with my 1968 No Door Ex Paddy Wagon for the city of Oshkosh WI. My first van was a 1961 Chevy Greenbrier. When I first got the van in WI you could still see the outline of the police emblem on the front door when she was white. If it was not for this club I would not had the resources to build it!

New Member and New Early Enthusiast

My name is Troy Patton and I live in Springboro, Ohio. I recently purchased a 1964 display van with the intensions of advertising my business. I'm an Independent Insurance Agent and have an office in Ohio and Kentucky. I've been married to my wife for 28 years, have a 23 year old daughter, and an 18 year old son. The van project will be a family affair. Both my daughter and son are anxious to work on our new project. The previous owner told me about VCVC. I'm excited to get to know other enthusiast's and look forward to the knowledge and advice VCVC members can provide during the transition of our '64 Display.

Yup, I never anticipated Orange Bang drawing all my attention like a spoiled child, I will have it back in a bout 7-10 days and will get some shots for you. As I recall you wanted/ needed a certain pixel or resolution? Please PM me with details to tell the photographer what you will require to put Space Truckin in print....woo hoo

    Still here

I'm still around. Sorry to say that I have been so busy with working three jobs 7 days a week that I don't get on here much. The good news is I still have my van. The bad news is I have not gotten to do much of anything to her other then using her as my work horse 2 days of every week.

    Cool Still vertical....

Well I just passed the 80 year mark and still trucking, not as much as I would like to "truck". Sorry that I have not posted much but still lurk to keep up with reality. The internet reality is right here and Smiley has one of the very best sites, keep it going please.

Through the years I have been assisted by many folks here and have attempted to help in reproducing some of the hard to find parts. This is a necessary resource to keep these great trucks on the road and away from the dreaded car crusher.

Ian here...Here is my 1965 Sportvan Deluxe.

    Ian here.

Here is my 1965 Sportvan Deluxe.

I purchased this Van nearly 2 years ago out of Blue River Oregon, and thanks to a few members of this club I have enough parts to get it running this year.

    Thanks to all of you!

    Sincerely,

    Ian.

Summerluvvan Dave checking in here. Spring has arrived in Columbia. Time to clean out the van, wash off the pollen, new battery, new starter, and new gas tank.

    Hello from Louisville Kentucky

    I’m Mark castle
    just joined
I have a 1965 Chevy g10 van and I’m looking to replace quite a bit of parts. Wanna start with the steering column...it is leaking some sort of oil badly from the middle of the shaft and pouring down to the base and out of the rubber boot on the floor board. Should I completely replace with the column or is there a rebuilding kit? I have pictures

YORKSTER68 saying Hey Y'all from Jacksonville, FL.

I'm still here and still searching for the right van for me since my 68 G-10 turned out to be too far gone for me to repair. But I'm not giving up.
I'll find the right one at the right time.

Hi Mark, nice looking Sportvan! There is no oil in the column. Seems to me that someone has filled the steering box with gear oil and the seal on top (where the sterring shaft exits) is either missing or gone bad. There is a recent thread on rebuilding them as well.

    Another Year?

Seems the older I get the faster time is moving.
Welcome 65 Van Guy MKE, lurkers are always welcome.
Welcome Mark Castle. Strange leak ya got there. Almost like someone took off the steering wheel and filled it from the top with gear oil (!?!). Very nice looking SportVan BTW. The front end looks really nice! Be careful with those front doors. One broken door stop check swing and it's hours of body work to repair.

If you're referring to the 66 Sportsvan that was posted on C L twice in that area, Sadly, no. Wish mine was as decent as that. My 68 runs, but the tranny won't shift out of gear.
I had to pull the drive shaft off to run the engine. Stuck clutch maybe? And don't get me started on the RUST. "shudder" Good thing my tetanus shot was up to date.
