Tanz, there is an aftermarket cable available. It was for some kind of lawn and garden equipment. I didn't find the part# reference in the search function but I'll see if I have it at the shop.

        eBay Cable

        https://www.ebay.com/itm/25319588873...Cclp%3A2047675

That maybe short @ 5 feet

The OEM P/N is 1991830 listed as 74-3/16" long - trim to required length (90" vs 108" Wheel base?)

Thanks Gary, says no shipping to to the UK unfortunately. Will see what Mark comes back with and what is available over here.

              Wheelbase shouldn't make any difference.

That's very kind of you Mike, thanks. I managed to source one last night over here from a US Automotive parts guy. Will see how that goes as its a DORMAN universal kit. If no good I will take you up on your kind offer. Thanks!

                    Cable

This was listed in VCVC quite some time ago as a workable substitute for the OE. I cannot find the original post. After seeing the difference in length, I'm questioning if it is correct. I will try to measure today and report.

                        choke cable

Just for reference the OEM first gen is 69-1/2" long, so if you have a short van, I would expect that dimension would be a good guide.

They do run a low routing along the frame - so maybe a shorter cable could be employed with a raised routing...

                        my 2?

BTW how long is the Amazon cable?

I just rechecked and this is what I am using in 69. I did drill a hole in the radiator support (not radiator) for a more direct route. The pass through hole is about 12” below the top edge of the doghouse to cover seal. I guess is the OE routing is below that radiator support.
