Tanz, there is an aftermarket cable available. It was for some kind of lawn and garden equipment. I didn't find the part# reference in the search function but I'll see if I have it at the shop.

That's very kind of you Mike, thanks. I managed to source one last night over here from a US Automotive parts guy. Will see how that goes as its a DORMAN universal kit. If no good I will take you up on your kind offer. Thanks!
I just rechecked and this is what I am using in 69. I did drill a hole in the radiator support (not radiator) for a more direct route. The pass through hole is about 12” below the top edge of the doghouse to cover seal. I guess is the OE routing is below that radiator support.
