    Come on already

Ok ok, put things off and yada yada...

We made definite plans to attend today. Like I posted before, we left on Saturday.
Had a great day at San Onofre beach and got to Oceanside and parked for the evening.

After many what I will call "piss ants" arrived with the thumping bass and popping exhaust nonsense.
You know these privileged 20 somethings with the parent's credit card and nothing to do but drink and drive.
It started quieting down around 9:00 and we were relaxing.
    Out of nowhere WHAM!
One of the piss ants had backed into me!

I jumped out of the van and as standard Cal/Crash procedure warrants, they were taking off. Here in the land of the litigious
it has become SOP to run after any crash. I chased on foot for a ways but they were gone fast. My ebike was locked up to the
front bumper and got wedged under the van.
Wish I could post a pic...
I called the cops but what they going to do?

So about 2am we got to sleep.

This morning everything is fine with the ebike and the bumper can be fixed so other than some bad karma wishes to the piss ant we all good.
We make some coffee really anticipating getting to meet the SD vanners again and have the cobbler and whipping cream...all is well...about a 40 minute drive.

Half the way there .... the van quits. I call AAA thinking its out of gas. Gauge dont work and usually I get a sputter or two of a warning, not this time.
Guy shows up with gas and thats not the issue - its no spark.
Im not tinkering with it on the side of I-5 so we tell him we need a tow. I ask do we ride with you?
No. Because of covid we have to ride in the van. What?
Sounds weird but if thats what you want...what a riot. It was like being in a plane in turbulence.

Home now...Theres lots of cobbler if anyone would like to stop over?

Man, sorry to hear about your experience Mike. Was it just the bumper? Hope it?s not too bad. What about the spark situation? Have you had a chance to mess with it yet? I remember when I redid my wiring on my first gen I used a 2nd gen connector thinking it might be a sturdier connection compared to the first gen connector. A road trip and several sudden loss of power moments during the journey made me realize how bad the 2nd gen connector is. I didn’t know what it was so I checked the horn relay, the HEI, starter, alternator and couldn’t find the culprit. It just tended to slightly disconnect. I pushed all parts of the connector tighter and vrooom it started. It would happen again and I’d tighten and tape it to confirm it was that. I since replaced it with a beefy connector from a newer Chevy (Astro possibly, don’t remember ). So, check the connection there first if you haven’t already. Something hopefully just came loose if not there maybe the HEI harness? Hopefully it?s something easy.

I honestly cannot count how many times I have heard,
"Wow, thats never happened before." or "Ive been doing this for years and Ive never seen that before."
